Yes, crochet may have a reputation for being the ugly sister of lusty and lascivious lace, conjuring up images of one-eyed toothless spinsters hawking rotten apples in scraggly shawls. But! I put it to you – you good, good people you – that this is NOT the case…have a rethink, have a look at the a/w runways, fall in love with granny-glamour (trust me, you won’t regret it).

From the Victorian nymphettes at Christian Dior (can Galliano do NO wrong?!) to the boho-traveller chic of Tao Kurihara – Comme des Garçons‘ protegé – replete with billowing chambray cotton, elaborate drawstrings and – yes – crochet detailing….are you looking at my look du jour with more sympathetic eyes yet? Easy, breezy, casual with a hippy summer vibe…I have to tell you, I am sold.
